2023 Valedictorian Schedule:
Friday, April 21- information meeting at noon in room 193, and applications and nomination forms will be available on the bulletin board outside room 193.
Thursday, April 27- Nomination forms are due to room 193 at 3:30pm
Friday, April 28- Application forms are due to room 193 at 3:30pm
May 1-5- All applicants and nominees will be contacted for an interview for which they will receive questions in advance
May 5- The first round of applicants will be narrowed down to finalists. Applicants will receive an email at 3:30pm regarding their status. Successful applicants will be tasked with preparing their potential valedictory speech.
May 11- Finalists will present their potential valedictory speech to a panel of KSS staff and grade 12 students who will make the final selection. Finalists will be notified via email at 3:30pm if they are not successful.
May 19- Valedictorians will be announced to the grad class at the prom!
Criteria:
The valedictorian of a graduating class needs to possess the qualities and beliefs of his/her peers. It is a very prestigious opportunity and we welcome your application or nomination.
The successful valedictorian(s) will be:
• A positive role model for their peers and younger students
• A strong representative of the values of a KSS student
• Dedicated to academics and work ethic
• Respected by peers and teachers
• Involved in multiple facets of the school culture
Please note the following points:
• All applicants and nominees will undergo the interview process.
• A shortlist will be made after interviews, and successful students will prepare a 3-5 minute speech.
• The decision on who will be the valedictorian(s) will be made by a staff and student
committee.
• Late applications will not be considered.
• The successful candidates will need to present their speech in advance to the staff and student committee
for final approval.
